about

"Smile" went through a lot of changes before ending up as badass as it is now. Last minute additions of steel drums and guitar slides over the chorus meld with Doo-wop backup vocals for a bomastic fit in this skankin' rock song. Over the bridge I'm screaming "What A World! What A World! What A World!" amidst the raucous, an ode to the Wicked Witch's dying words in The Wizard Of Oz, for some reason that's all she could think about as she was melting - which is fucking creepy.

lyrics

How could it ever be?
My fault My fault
I thought I played your game
My fault My fault
And if you fake the blame
My fault My fault
I bet it's all the same
My fault My fault!

Smile while I show you the door
Like it's My fault My fault
If you don't get it now, you won't ever know
If you don't get it now, you won't ever know

Why would I ever leave?
My house My home
I fall down on my knees
My fault My fault
This is our final fight
My fault My fault
So throw up all your might
My fault My fault!

Smile while I show you the door
Like it's My fault My fault
If you don't get it now, you won't ever know
If you don't get it now, you won't ever know

WHAT A WORLD
WHAT A WORLD
WHAT A WORLD

How could it ever be?
Didn't I play your game!?
My fault My fault
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
OH YEAH

Smile while I show you the door
Like it's My fault My fault
If you don't get it now, you won't ever know
If you don't get it now, you won't ever know
